Living in the center of Asuncion
In the old center of the city there are many restaurants, shops, ministries and other facilities. In addition, Costanera and Costanera Playa are close to the center.
You can walk to many restaurants and other interesting places from us (Plaza Italia). The Ministry of Migration, for example, can also be reached quickly and easily on foot.
You can shop for everyday needs in a nearby Biggie supermarket, these smaller corner supermarkets are open 24 hours. You can do larger purchases in Superseis, which are comparable to Edeka supermarkets.
Wenn das Ziel doch weiter entfernt in einem anderen Stadtteil liegt, dann nehmt Ihr am besten einen Bolt (ähnlich wie Uber, aber günstiger) und lasst euch dort hinfahren. Dieses Verkehrsmittel ist sehr günstig und entsprechend populär in Asuncion.
Wie schon beschrieben wohnen wir direkt gegenüber von der Plaza Italia. Dieser Park erfreut sich großer Beliebtheit, so habt Ihr z.B. jeden Samstag Vormittag die Möglichkeit dort auf dem Ökoligischen Markt z.B. Biogemüse oder andere von den Ausstellern selbst produzierte Produkte zu erwerben. An den Wochenenden finden hier Nachmittags und auch Abends oft live Veranstaltungen statt, so daß man in das Geschehen eintauchen kann. Wie Ihr seht, es wird hier nicht langweilig!
Our new apartments for you
In 2022 we acquired an old building directly on Plaza Italia and then completely renovated it. During the refurbishment, we based our structural engineering on the German standard.
Our apartments have completely new bathrooms with walk-in showers and modern equipment. As protection against the higher temperatures in Paraguay, we have insulated roofs and in addition in each apartment air conditioning and ceiling fans. Should it get colder, you can also heat the rooms with the air conditioners.
The windows are directly from Germany, so that protection against cold and heat is also guaranteed here.
Our apartments have new kitchen blocks with the appropriate equipment. In addition, you have a washing machine in each apartment and the possibility to dry the washed laundry.
For general entertainment, each apartment has a TV with internet connection. On the ground floor we have a pool table and a sports room available for you. Before using the billiard table, you will receive a short briefing from us.
If you want to work from the apartment, you can log into the available WiFi directly. The apartments have enough space for you, you are also welcome to use the general seating area on the ground floor.
How safe is the center for you?
We have been living in Plaza Italia for over a year and take advantage of the proximity to the center for daily walks. During our long walks we have never had a problem with criminal attacks or other threatening situations. On the contrary, the people in Asuncion are very friendly, so that oncoming pedestrians often greet you with "que tal". Unfortunately, many people in Germany have been missing this friendliness for a very long time.
Of course, you often see poverty in the city. But the poorer Paraguayos are also friendly and many say hello. Of course there are exceptions everywhere.
Up to 3/4 of a year ago, there were many poverty refugees in makeshift housing near the Presidential Palace. However, these quarters were cleared and some of the people were resettled. Historically, there has been an increase in crime associated with these emergency shelters, particularly drug-related. However, the city of Asuncion has reacted accordingly and, in addition to relocating people, has also increased the police presence, especially in the greater area of the old town center.
The fact is, we feel very safe in the center and see the friendly police officers present as an asset to the city.
